On 9-11 I was out of my house, rarely happens. A good friend Vietnam Veteran had a run in with some crazy woman while he was driving home the day before. So about 6:30 that morning I left the house to go to the grocery store and buy a box of pastries and two white carnations for him. I figured I'd take it to his house as a peace offering, a little joke between us.

As I was checking out at the grocery store I was looking outside and heard one clerk remark to another what a beautiful day it was. I left the store and stopped outside looked up and around and really took in what a beautiful clear morning it was. I chastised myself for always being so negative and told myself what a beautiful day it was and I was so glad I was enjoying the morning and being outside.

I showed up and knocked on my friends door, he opened the door in his boxer shorts and his cell phone to his ear. He said a plane just hit the World Trade Tower.

I went in and we watched together as it unfolded. We were not panicked perhaps we were in shock, perhaps it's the PTSD. It was interesting to watch him we are similar in our PTSD as I watched him move and react I remembering thinking he looks like me in a big man suit.

I thought the first plane could not be an accident, because the day was so clear who could miss the World Trade Towers boring down on them. When the second plane hit there was no doubt in our minds that we were under attack.

I quickly got on his computer and changed the homepage of HadIt.com to reflect we were under attack and all the emergency numbers I could find. Our home page in 9/11 from the web archives http://ow.ly/6r6o7

After the second plane hit I thought I was very numb, until the Pentagon got hit and then I discovered I had whole other layer of numb.

The Pentagon hit took us both both off guard, it just seemed like one impossible thing to believe after another.

We watched for several hours and then I went home and watched and watched and watched…
