I was awarded 10% for combined hearing loss/tinitus. I was told that 10% was the max amount one could claim for this. Is that correct ? Thanks.

10 percent is the max comp for recurrent Tinnitus.

Hearing loss can be rated separately and at different percentage levels,
up to 100 percent, BUT you pretty much have to be about deaf to
get a compensable rating for Hearing Loss.

just hang in there, My first claim was back in 1984, of course I was denied. But I jumped all over it in 2008, and yes I was put thru the mill in 2011 I go it 20% per ear and 10% for tinnitus. So don't give up.

Hey guys, working on a claim for another Veteran. He has a 60% rating for Ishemic heart. While going thru his file I noticed that even though he had hearing aid given by the VA no, claim was started by his VA rep. Am I correct that we can file a claim for this also?

I am functionally deaf without my recently issued top of the line hearing aids and have a rating of 70% for that. With the aids in I am still not much better.
Get a copy of your test results and compare them to the ratings table. Don't hesitate to ask for another C & P in a few years if your hearing has gotten worse. Write and submit the request yourself as i've heard rumors (unverified by myself) that the request may be written specifially for a target rating like 10 or 20% and if your test exceeds that you will still only get what was requested.
The examiner is not your friend. I am sure that most of them are straight-forward and probably all feel that they are conducting themselves properly, but you are going to take the test honestly so you should be tested honestly. I have been told to raise my hand "even if you just think you hear something".
