I was on Ebenefits looking at the Exams Appointment Calender and I noticed a right above the calender "View Appointment Requests" which is a link . I never seen this before or was just blind to see it. So I clicked the link and it shows this:

Date Requested by VA Benefits Office | Date Completed and Returned to VA Benefits Office | Request Status
August 2, 2012 10:48am


What does "Date Requested by VA Benefits Office" mean? If it means I had a C&P exam on this date then they messed up big time because I never received an appointment card for it. I always go online and check appointments because there has been times whenever I don't receive the appointment cards. Or does this mean the VA Benefits Office requested an appointment on August 2, 2012? On the calender itself it doesn't show any schedule appointments outside my normal PCP and Pain Management Appointments...

It is just a request by the VA for your hospital/examiner/doctor to make an appointment. Now, this could involve you and maybe not. I had both recently. One was an actual C & P where you actually go and get examined and the other was a paper exam where you are not involved. The doctor found the answer in your records.

The actual C & P, I got the usual notice in the mail and the phone call reminder.

The paper (records) C & P, I did not recieve anything, however, my attendance was not required/expected.

Both times, they were listed in the "View Appointment Requests"

If it were me, I would look on the site on occassion, just in case they've requested an exam and (forget?) to advice you. For me, the date showed up under the exam area that you looked on, then, about a couple of weeks later, I was called (letter never came) by the local VAMC for a C&P. After that one exam, the file did not show up as returned to VARO, but ebenefits still had the exam request noted. Then, about another month went by and I received a letter for a next exam. After the second exam, I noticed on ebenefits the file returned to VARO about a week after the exam. A month after that event, a decision was made on my claim, all of this info. being able to be tracked on ebenefits. Ebenefits has not always been up to date or useful in my case, but that one time, I was able to keep up with what seemed to be happening. I'm not saying this could be the same in your case, but it would not hurt to check every now and again.

Thanks Hamslice....I think this might have been something about my IMO that was written for my denied claims and my TDIU claim and they received it last week. Finger crossed....

I want to add to the stupid list of Ebenefits. On the calender is reads:

"View details of your Compensation and Pension (C&P) exam appointments scheduled with the VA. Other appointments will not appear on this calendar."


I think this is funny because I can see ALL my OTHER appointments on that calender....

In my case, I've already had two C&P examinations, and the calendar has never showed anything as scheduled. I looked several times after getting my notice of the appointments, and even afterward. It basically only shows that a request for appointments has been sent by the VA, but no listing or dates. I wouldn't trust the calendar too much. Good to watch it, but don't use it as a compass.
