What is the time line for filing a Presumptive Service connection claim? The part about the Gallstones caught my eyes. I had a lot of problems with my stomach while I was in the last year of my service. The Air Force Doctors performed every type of test possible, but only said I had gas build up. They only gave me Malox. After my discharge, I kept having the same problem. One night I got an extremely bad attack and had to go to the ER. The ER Doctor (looked like he was 14) knew just by pressikng my stomach that I had Gallstones. But, now they had spread throughout my bile system, and I would need major surgery. Instead of having a small scar of 4-5 inches, mine is about 16 inches. I filed back around 1974, and the VA gave me service connection with 0 rating. I talked to a DAV Service Officer about this a week ago, and he told me that I would need to bring a civil suit. Just does not seem fair. BTW, I love your web-site.

10. What is a presumptive service connection?

The VA will presume certain specific listed conditions to be service connected by
presumption, provided that they became manifest during a certain period of time after service.  These include certain “chronic “ diseases, including arthritis, gallstones, psychoses, sarcoidosis, ulcers, and heart conditions (including hypertension).  There are also tropical conditions, conditions specific to POWs, diseases specific to radiation, and Vietnam service conditions.

Where do you find the time limitations for presumptive diseases? Thanks Navygsmc
