A friend of mine was assulted in the Navy by a fellow sailor that held a gun to his head and threatened to kill him. This was documented by the poloce and I think that he could have a good case for PTSD. He is already receives disability for something else and always said he was going to file a claim for this incident.
This fellow told me go to the VA over 10 years ago and I waited till last year. Now he tells me I told you so. He should take his own advice. Bill |

Larry
Ask how many VSO's have ever read the VBM? Can you imagine a victim of sexual assult going to a VSO and the VSO just giving them a blank stare. |

For PTSD - Statement in Support of Claim for Service Connection for PTSD http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/VBA-21-0781-ARE.PDF For PTSD - Secondary to Personal Assault: http://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/VBA-21-0781a-ARE.pdf I was in a training class just this morning, put on by the Texas Veterans Commission, and, out of about 200 VSO's, there weren't but just a handfull that had ever encountered these forms. Thank you Carlie, for your posting. |

Thank you Carlie, don't think I've ever seen the personal assault form before. It seems like a good way for collecting information. On my claim stressor letter, I attached official reports that included names. Guess that helped, but still hurts because its in my cfile.
