I had arthroscopic knee surgery on my right knee in September to repair a torn meniscus. In October I sent in paperwork to increase my disability on my knees, back, ankle, and a new claim for sleep apnea and depression. My AMVET rep gave me a heads up on the results. I was increased on my left knee and ankle, granted 30% for the depression (only had 7 months of treatment) and denied permanent increase for my right knee but granted tep 100% for two months because of the surgery. I had not addressed the issue
The have not reached a decision on my back yet, but the screen shows that it is ready to rate according to my AMVET rep. Originally, I had filed a NOD regarding the back, but also filed for an increase. Now my AMVET rep says that it is showing as an appeal.

It sounds so far so good and you seem pleased too at this point-
Huskerfanfl if I wrote a book about how bad the VA is -it would be a big book- if I wrote another book about how good the VA is-that book would be bigger!
We fail to realise -I certainly do-and posts like yours fully remind me that the VA makes some excellent decisions all the time-unfortunately all of the awards that come right out of ROs are not documented and we have no way to see these awards- and only hear if them from the vets themselves here or at other vet sites.
I am glad they did award the temp 100% -I bet it was obvious that your evidence warranted this- but obvious is sure not always an assumption we claimants can make as to what the VA does.
It appears they expect the knee to possibly stabilize or improve? Thus no increase
there- then again knee problems can cause and/or aggravate back issues.
The back claim might be showing as an appeal only because the NOD was filed-and they are still working on the 'appeal' meaning the NOD- the first step in an appeal.
That is my take-others will chime in if they see this differently.
