I have been tasked to give a brief on VA benefits and eligibility for guard members.

Does anyone have eligibility info for

MDay (1 wknd per month, 2 week AT) Paid for weekend drill days & ATs
AGR (Fulltime unit staff) Full benefits and pay like AD
SAD (State Active Duty) mobilized for fires, etc.) Short periods, no BAH, etc
ADSW (Active Duty Special Work) Full benefits and pay like AD

I don't know of anyone who has been injured while on SAD orders. However, I do know of AGR, MDay, and ADSW who have had injuries.

AGR, ADSW and MDay training accident (even if having tripped over a laptop)- Are these people eligibile?
AGR, ADSW and MDay auto accidents after or before work hours- Are these people eligibile?
AGR, ADSW and MDay household accidents- Are these people eligibile?

I have heard that no matter how, if you were entitled to base pay, you are eligibile for VA disability benefits. Unless AWOL or involved in a crime.

There are 1185 National Guard claims at the BVA for 2008- I noticed right away that many were remanded as they needed more prove of the veteran’s service in the National Guards-

Make sure these men and women leave the Mil with a complete copy of tweir SMRS as well as proof positive they served in the Guards-

I am a little alarmed that every case in 2008 I clicked on has revealed problems with getting the Proof of Guard service records.

If you serve in the Army (Guard and/or Reserve) you should be getting a DD 220 every time you go on active duty when your not getting a DD 214. You need to do 90 or more days to get a DD 214, but if you go on active duy from 1 day to 89 days you should be getting a DD 220. If your on active duty, do a DA Form 1506. This will allow you to get all the AT and all the time you did federal active duty (1 day to whenever). I added a total of six months by doing twice (first time 6 weeks, the second time 4 months and 22 days).
