Are there any lists available of what the VA can supply to a Veteran? As in medicines, Prosthetics, and misc. Items.

Medicines: There are medicines that a Non-VA Doctor can prescribe that the VA simply does not allow. Would be nice to know exactly what medications the VA is allowed to prescribe.

Prosthetics: What things are available such as Types of Wheelchairs, Braces, Mechanical, Medical, and Eletronic Aids?

Ex. of a Medical Aid: Bi-Pap units for Sleep Apnea patients. Glucose Monitor for Diabetics.

Misc. Items: Ex. Heating Pad, I never knew my Doctor could order me one for one back as it is not general knowledge. I would have asked one for ages ago for my sore back if I had known it earlier.

I would love to know what's out there as the VA seems to play a nice game of "Hide and Seek" meaning if an item is hidden from you, how can you request it? Maybe not being done purposely, but seems to happen. <groan>

Thanks!

Considering the trouble that it will take, and the time, why don't you look these things up?
And, if you need anything that you think of, and if your PCP decides that you need it....then it is generally available to any veteran.
Wheel chairs, walkers, crutches, prosthetics. The VA has a "formulary" available on-line at the VA web site for available drugs.

Happy Hunting.

Not sure about a formal list.

I just ask. If it is relevant to your issue they usually have it.

I'm on an insulin pump, glucose meter, plus a ton of perscription meds.

SC for type I diabetes.
