1. Do they pay the school? If they do and the school has ALREADY been paid, does the school re-imburse you?
2. Do they pay the Student? If they do, do they direct deposit it, or mail it?
3. Do they pay for tuition/books/lab fees? Or do they simply pay a monthly amount?
4. Does the Student have to send in a monthly "progress report" or statement that they are still in school?
5. Does the Student receive retroactive pay, back to when the veteran was declared 100% P&T, provided the Student was, in fact, a student at that time?

1.VA under CHapter 35 ,makes a payment to the student. This amount is figured out on the tuition rates and there is a cap to this payment- The tuition has to be first paid to the school by the student.
2.Whatever the student elects-
It is a monthly amount that is figured out as a payment which is often divided into the months of the semester.
3. The student should ask the school if there are any book grants available for them to apply for.
The USMC paid for my books under a grant.
Text books can be extremely expensive.
Also every school has a used text book store which can also help defer some costs of text books.
4. The VA will know via the school that the student is maintaining the semester work schedule.Also under CHapter 35 the student must maintain a certain GPA.I dont know what that is.
Chapter 35 will pay for some remedial courses also-as I understand.Depends on many factors.
5.If the student paid tuition to a VA approved school dating back to the 100% P & T date- they will receive a letter (or if not they should contact the VA Educational Dept with proof of those payments)
I got a letter from VA Edu asking me if I had attended college prior to AMU.
But my past college tuitions did not fall under the limiting date of the award letter.
My tuition was approximately 750 a semester and the Chap 35 $ covered that just about even as I recall.

The VA also offers cushy jobs to Chapter 35 Students but you have to ask.
They pay a fixed amount depending on hours taken and a very strict degree plan. There are things that really have to be watched and they only pay for a limited amount of hours. Last I heard it was over 935 but it goes up like ours does with COLA's but at a different time of year.
I think that you can get the nitty gritty by calling the infamous 800 827 1000 and selecting the education button on your phone.

I think one of the best jobs to try and get as a Chapter 35 student
is working in the finance department.
These are the people that find out first about the most and/or addintinal benefits.
An important one being grants.
