My question to IRIS:
I am requesting status of my claim, when I call the 1800 number I get many different answers. when would I recieve a notification of a decision. If you could tell me what the decision is or if there is a decision.

IRIS Response:
This is in response to your inquiry dated March 24, 2009, regarding the status of your claim.

The rating board rendered a decision on some of the issues. They have determined that additional information is needed for other issues. Rather than delay the start of benefits while we obtained the necessary evidence for specific issues we decided to rate the issues where sufficient information was available. However the decision is not in the system until the veteran's notification letter is complete. We are unable to advise what decision was rendered or the time line for completion of your claim.

Thank you for contacting us. If you have questions or need additional help with the information in our reply, please respond to this message or see our other contact information below.

Call your VSO and get them to track the letter down, They should see it first if they have a RO based office.
It wont be too much longer. Watch the bank as retro often beats the award letter.

mcso,
Sure sounds like you have,at least some additional money
heading your way. Hopefully it won't be too much longer
for this to start.
VA still has some work to do on some of your issues.
They may order some tests or C&P for what-ever it is they have
yet to form a rating decision on.

Thanks everyone who has responded, i sure hope they let me know something soon because im about to go out of my mind with the waiting game, sorry for those who have waitied longer, i did all of the claims filing myself so i guess i will have to continue to wait. Like someone said your the best advocate to your claim, and i didnt trust or have confidence in any vso in my area so thats why i did it myself. so i will keep my fingures crossed and wait.

Ya know, I did that very same thing. I filed all my own stuff............and then I waited, and waited, all the time keeping my fingers crossed.

Now I'm thinking about filing a claim for arthritic changes in my index and second finger - bi-lateral. wink.gif

Just to see what happens, respond to the message as it directs you too. Seek further "clarification" in order to find out the "accuracy" of the information already given.

I did something similar and was surprised that the R/O chief of adjudication responded and quickly fixed the issue. So, it is strongly possible that you got the "standard statement" issued to NOT bring hope but yet not to pre-deny anything. I came to be very wary of "none informative"-information given via iris responses.

I took your advice and this is what I re wrote back to them:

I am requesting further clarification in order to find out the accuracy of the information already given.

There response is more general than the first:

This is in response to your inquiry dated March 25, 2009, regarding the status of your claim.

We are unable to provide you with the rating decision. A notification letter is sent after the completion of the paperwork. If you have questions after you receive the letter, please contact the VA.

so still no answers, back to finger crossing
