I submitted my application for the new Post 9/11 GI-Bill today. Since I am an 80% combined, OIF vet I thought I would receive the full amount of the new bill. The pamphlet says if your discharged due to a service connected disability you will receive the full amount, so long as you served a set amount of days, which I have. I am SC for PTSD, and as most know the one week discharge medical review that reservest get does'nt pick up everything. I was SC right after I got out but there is no percentage on my DD-214, and the people in the GI-Bill office will only use that to grant eligability for the new bill. The diffirence is $1000.00 a month, I dont think this is fair. I also suspect that there are many more people out there like me. Does anyone have an idea how to get around this? I spoke with the supervisors in the call office and got the same response over and over.
