NAS FT WORTH JRB (Naval Air Station Ft Worth Joint Reserve Base). Heck, they got a little bit of some and a whole lot of other stuff, Navy even has a Navy Lodge, nice digs. Even got a Coastie's detachment. Now what, may I ask is the Coast Guard gonna "Guard" in Ft. Worth? But, nonetheless, they gonna guard somethin'!

If y'all haven't done so, you'll have to stop at the "Visitor's Shack" at the main gate. That is where they will issue you your "card" and also where you will need to register your automobile (title, insurance papers, safety inspection)get the little stickys to put on your windshield, makes them not shoot you.

And, have fun, heck we even go out to the lake (they have a really nice one at NAS Ft Worth (must be what the Coast Guard is guardin')), and picnic, and stuff.
The Air Fierce has a place up on Lake Texhoma that you can also go to (part of the MWR out of Wichita Falls, TX).
And, the NAS Corpus Christi has some really nice stuff on the beach.

Stay AWAY from the Federal Corrections facility at NAS Ft. Worth, though. They keep peeps there that they don't want ya to know about, fergit about Gitmo!

Well, that musta been back before the advent of gun powder! biggrin.gif

The very last time I was there.....there was this little SP gal standing in front of my car (the .45 ACP was almost as big as she was, but, she looked perfectly capable of using it....) and there was this AP with the M16. I stopped and they went over my documents and my wife's before raising the steel barricade (well, acutally "lowering" the steel barricade). Then, when we got ready to leave, we got stopped in a line of cars (7 or 8 cars) while the AP's went over our vehicle with the German Sheperds.........seems they came up one prisoner short at the supper "head count" behind the concertina wire and the signs that say "absolutely no cameras or recording devices will be allowed past this point and don't EVEN slow down to take a look, either.....".

And, these young folks all looked "earnest" in their endeavors!

"............step outta your cars, ID's in your hands, back away from your car and leave the doors open.....yes, you too, miss...and NO, LEAVE YER PURSE INSIDE THE CAR.....that's right....now sloooowwly back away.....thank you................"

I was directed to a previous hadit post-is the DD Form 2765,the DOD ID card you get when you go to the visitors shack. Is it good a various military bases(say you were out of town) or only the local one that issues it?Thanks
LarryJ
It is the DOD Form # 2765. It is good anywhere there happens to be a U.S. Military Installation (and, also, some of our "dearest friends" places. Like, for example, the Royal Navy Club in downtown London and other "neat" places. It'll get you overnighters at some really good places (U.S. Navy Lodges, which are quite a bit like Ramada Inns, located on MOST Navy bases, and go for around $40 bucks a night, or the Armed Forces Vacation Clubs with prices about $329 a week in some places like on the grounds of Mickey Mouse Club in Orlando, or the lodge on the Big Island) all sorts of goodies are available. Plus lots of "discounts" like Avis and even some good discounts on flights, etc. Even will get you discounts at Lowes or Home Depot, all you gotta do is flash yer card.

I live just a few miles from a AFB. I never go there for anything. I got the I.D. but I don't want to wait in line. At the gate there is a guy about 50 feet back hiding in a little bunker with a automatic rifle aiming at the people driving into the base. I hope he is not high on drugs.

I went today. It was not bad prices were about 30% lower than where I shop now. Best deals were on stuff you need for house.

I was at the Commissary today...love the deals there!! They were also having a "case-lot" sale. Great deals if you buy by the case.

Pete,
Did you go over across the parking lot to the "grocery store/supermarket"?
Darn good produce and stuff, excellent meat market, goooood prices (seems to me, last time we went, extra lean ground sirloin was a buck sixty-nine, and I'm talking 90% lean. The Wife is goin' "ahhhh, hmmmm, good, we'll have some of this and some of this and this will freeze really good and I'll get some potatoes and carrots for this pot roast and, wow, looky at the T-bones............" that's along about the time that I went on "cruise control". I mean, I knew that the money that I was gonna buy my new Les Paul bass with, was now in my basket, lookin strangely like the hamburgers I was gonna have for lunch tomorrow............ahhh, but she's a good goirl, yes she is.

........and I love her....
