I will soon have a AO appointment, my x-rays came back for my lungs, and the Doctor said I had thicking of the lungs,
her only question was about asbestos, what is the effects of AO on lungs Thanks
john999
AO can cause certain kind of lung cancer. I don't know how many kinds there are but the VA makes a distiction I believe.

Thank you John, Its a fact everyone was exposed, but what are the effects on my body, is the thicking of lungs a result, is there more. Who determines that the lungs, or other symtoms are caused by Agent Orange
sharon
Lung cancer is persumptive of agent orange, thats all. Any other lung disorder would not be considered persumtive of agent orange.

sharon got it, the thicking of lungs most likely cause by the Asbetos exposure in Alaska

And the lung cancer due to AO regs involve only STS lung cancers (Soft tissue sarcomas)

I was surprised to learn this some time ago-

The MOPH told a wdiow her DIC claim was definitely going to receive an award.
The vet had incountry Vietnam service and died of lung cancer.

VA denied the DIC claim saying the lung cancer was not a soft tissue sarcoma, therefore not due to AO.

I still wonder about that claim-forget what site I read about it on-
I would think all lung cancers would be of soft tissue type.

I advised this widow to carefully search through all the veterans medical records as cancers have many types of medical terms- and somewhere in those records the cancer might have been identified as one of the 34 STS cancers that VA will SC to AO.

VA has the list of STS cancers but I certainly would not leave it up to them to fully search the medical records.
Their decision might have been right.
But I hope the widow questioned that denial and maybe even got an IMO.

Berta,
this was my PC, she said we found thicking of the lungs.
Her next question was have you been exposed to Asbestos, I said yes and gave her the explanation of why I thought I was exposed
He really didn't make any comment after that, she is foreignor, and hard to understand
Research tells me they should give me respiratory test of some type, correct
