OK...I'm in the middle of this lovely prep procedure. But there's a problem. That nasty liquid that I have to drink (those of you who've had it, you know what I mean)....uh....it's not really working. I'm almost through the first gallon and I don't know if I can drink the 2nd gallon because I'm so nauseaous (SP?).

Everyone always talks about "being in the bathroom all day"........not me, hope this doesn't mean I'll be up all night.

Don't worry it will come

Thats very odd Purple, I have had three colonoscopies and only had to drink 1 gallon of the liquid laxative. Maybe I am wrong in saying it is odd, you may have some medical conditions where it warrants 2 gallons.I feel for you, getting through one gallon is tough. I would just chug it every 15 minutes or so. If 2 gallons does not work, whew, wow nuclear... Just kidding. Drinking that crap is the worst part of the process.

You won't be full of it by morning
It will set your colon free

Could mean that you were really full of it before you started smile.gif

Sharon, some Colon/Rectal surgeons do not like for you to even drink broth, it colors up the mucosal lining sometimes. Or, at least that's what mine told me.

I was NPO (nulo per ostum = nothing by mouth) from midnight, until after the procedure. sad.gif

And it was nothing but clear liquids the day prior to procedure. I think chicken broth was on the list, but am not entirely positive.

I have survived my procedure--I think. OMG.
I do believe I was severely over-medicated though as I'm just now (12+ hours later) "waking up".
They had to keep me longer because my BP had dropped so low....low 80s/40s!!!!! And all they did was give me extra IV fluids! I was so out of it I couldn't ask for help. I recall my heart monitor kept going off; but they kept shutting it off!! It was turned away from me, so I couldn't see why it was going off...of course I have a pacemaker, but I wonder if they gave me so many knockout drugs that my pacemaker couldn't even keep up.

They said when I got there that my BP was already low (101/74), but they went ahead and gave me the following via IV: Demerol 100mg, Versed 5mg, & Phenergan 12.5 mg.

When they discharged me my BP was only 95/60-something....but I was the last pt there and they were wanting to get me out of there.

As far as the procedure itself, the doc said it was "normal" but that they did biopsy some polyps.

I'm going to check my BP again later to see if it's come back to normal yet.

Thanks...I'm still a little groggy today.
Got a call from my PCP's nurse, she said the soonest I can be seen for a f/u visit is Oct 1st! Guess I'll just do what I normally do and get a copy of my records and check out the test results for myself...
