I got an on the record decision on the 6th of August and my case went into the payment center on the 7th, I have not received my award letter as of yet and have called social security and get all different answers which are 30days to 90days. I know that if you collected ssi, it takes longer or if ss has to pay your attorney it takes longer as well. I used allsup which was awesome and i found out that I pay them when I get my back pay their fee comes out of my bank account

I am trying to figure out about when I will get my first check an back pay. I am suppose to get ssdi check on the 4th wed of every month and my back pay is almost 2 years. I am trying to get a rough idea from personal experience if anyone can help that would be great

thank you

Allsup should get paid directly from SS. They have about 15 days to appeal the amount of their fee and if they don't appeal their fee you get paid, then. Usually takes 60-90 days from the decision date.

Another thing is that depending on the amount of backpay owed, SS will pay in three installments with $2,022 being the maximum amount for the first payment, 1/2 of the remainder 6 months later, and the final installment 6 months after that; so it takes 1 year to receive your entire backpay.

Congratulations on your award!

I was granted SSDI immediately on the first application process. I got my funds all at once, back pay included in one lump sum in my bank account. It took 1 or just under 2 mths to receive the total amount. Have they changed the way they pay it with the back pay now? Mine was in 2003 for 2002. I submitted the application myself and never met anyone in person from the SS office, just spoke on the pnone with the caseworker.

My wife received her SSI award in May, and that is how they are paying her backpay. The person at SS said that they have changed the way they make the payout due to recipients being ripped-offed. Personally, I think it is just a way for them to hold onto someone's money longer... dry.gif

Thank you all for the information, parts of it were helpful but some were incorrect. Just to clarify just in case someone is asking the same questions as myself that they dont get the wrong answer. If you get approved for ssi and it does take time you will get your backpay in payments now if you get approved for ssdi your backpay is made in one lump payment. I called ss this morning to double check just so that i wasnt expecting the wrong information.

Also allsup is paid by myself not social security, they do it different than a regular attorney because according to them it will hold up the payment if they try to get paid first, they are constantly checking on my ss account and when funds are released they call me and check to see if it is in my bank account and then they withdrawl their fee

thank you all
