I am currently SC 20% for dm2 and 10% for each limb for PN. My question is that my doc just told me that I probably have autonomic neuropathy which is causing my GERD. Is autonomic neuropathy a rateable condition as secondary to dm2? I am thinking that this may be a round about way to get my GERD service connected. Any information would be appreciated!

Google it to see if it is a secondary condition of DmII. If it is then I think you can get secondary for gerd.

Autonomic neuropathy is associated with the following:

• Alcoholic neuropathy
• Diabetic neuropathy
• Disorders involving scarring and hardening (sclerosis) tissues
• Guillain Barre syndrome or other diseases that inflame nerves
• HIV and AIDS
• Inherited nerve disorders
• Parkinson's disease
• Surgery or injury involving the nerves
• Use of anticholinergic medications

I guess what I am looking for is to see if autonomic neuropathy is a separate rateable condition. I am already rated 10% for each limb for peripheral neuropathy. If I can make that connection, then GERD is easy to attach to that as that is one of it's effects.
