Is VA held responsible for documents sent from another federal agency that was subsequently misplaced or lost while in there possession?

Berta
I would think so-

then again VA could say another agency failed to even send them documents that in fact they did receive-and misplaced or lost.

If you tell us more details maybe we can help more.

SSA records requests sometimes have to be followed up on by the claimant.

No evidence from SSA appeared on a SOC my husband got for higher PTSD rating. He had SSA solely for PTSD.

VA told my 2 Senators and my Congressman that SSA had refused to send the VA my husbands SSA records.
It was a bold faced lie.

VA had never even requested them.

I think VA is responsible as you asked but they dont have any real accountability on this stuff.

Have you formally inquired as to what VA is doing to find these records?

Is there any other source that could have duplicates of these records?

what kind of records are they?

Thank you for the feed back!

My daughters miltary treatment records were sent from a St. Louis records center to VA, but VA continues to ask her if she has a copy because VA is statint that they do not have the records. VA does not say that they never recieved the medical records.
