Think Commander Bob referenced 'clincal trials' and veterans possible unknown participation. So I took a look at the VA website for Hippa and FOIA information. I found this - very broad interpetation of, imho (cgho) - if they wanna get my info they're gonna. (Haven't found where I can opt out as of yet!)

Wakeup Note: When I first searched the VA website for 'privacy policy' its an amazing read. For instance THEY COLLECT - what path we took to their website, the site we visit just before or after accessing and I.P. address and browser used, + other things.

Yup, changing my Internet Ops asap!!

Hey Cowgirl,
That was an interesting read.
The practice of collecting previous site, browser, operating system, etc... is used primarily to help the web site authors target their most common visitors, like targeted marketing. The information is also used by network/web security departments to help identify malicious threats. This happens everywhere and is considered normal.
cowgirl
Targeted marking - identification of threats - terms of service, your're right, its all in the details and how the reader interpets it I suppose.
Poor memory here at times, so even a lil reminder doesn't hurt me. Am retired military so very little really surprises me. rolleyes.gif

Yes, this doesn't mean they can get your personal info on your computer, just collecting IP address which is basically nothing. Always a good practice to delete your cookies every now and again.

It sounds scary, but it is actually kind of innocent. I was in for five years, but had I stayed for my 20, I would have retired this year. I totally know what you mean. laugh.gif

The VA uses HIPPA as a shield from disclosure of the many evil things that they do.
cowgirl
Well yes clean up cookies and temp files, but IP is very special.

VA hospitals, Medical schools, and medical research, go hand in hand. Service to our country goes beyond what many of our fellow Americans perceive.

That's just great. Like I need anything else to ad to the paranoia.

Don't worry Ryan. You have been through a lot, and now everything will be OK. You have come a long way with your VA claim. No need for paranoia,. Check your med's if you feel a little fear. That's normal with some of the meds your taking. If the VA is keeping track of you then all they will see is a brave young man, who was wounded in combat. Take a look at the Agent Orange register. All those Vietnam Vets are in some kind of a statistical clinical trial.. Here is a little something to help you with the paranoia. My most positive thoughts are with you...
