There is a group of Attorneys,(who kick Butt) located in Montgomery,Alabama. I just eMailed them to see if they would be taking on the VA-helping us with our claim.
Might help if Vets would sent them eMail asking for there help.
You can check them out at BeasleyAllen.com
webmaster@beasleyallen.com (eMail)
We really need to try to get Attorneys who are willing to learn VA Law,to be on our side.
June 2007 is just around the corner.

I cant agree more-

I am going to try to collect a data base here in New York State-

maybe if others volunteer by the state they live in we can get one going-

then again- if I was a lawyer, interesting in this new reg- I would start advertising at all the vets sites.

ALLSUP, Inc- the SSA people who have been mentioned here -called me the other day and were very interested in all this- they aren't lawyers but still a good potential source to pass this info on- as they see many vets with SSA applications-who could potentially have SC disability too-
and vice versa- they liked this site and want any SC vet who might be eligible for SSA to access their site and they can give an assessment on their potential SSA claim in a very short period of time.

I couldn't help but say to the nice woman Ruth who called me from ALLSUP- that I wished she worked for the VA-she and the firm at ALLSUPs are disability specialists who view disabilties in a different way than a ten-fifteen minute C & P exam could possibly cover. They have a fee and therefore are quite thorough in reviewing the records.
If they take the claim- and the claim must fulfill the work credit etc SSA criteria- their success rate is 97 % for SSA awards.

I dont really know why they were so interested in the pending lawyer regs but still-
anyone who can pass this info on might reach lawyers who would access our site as she did-
I am glad this is a separate topic because more info is sure to come out before the regs are in affect.

I was a federal civilian employee and I got hurt on the job. There were just a handful of lawers nationwide that would handle federal workers compensation claims because the feds had made sure their was no money in it like with VA claims. This was supposed to make it non-adversarial, ha, ha. I did a lot of reading and talking to other injured federal employees. Finally, I started getting phone calls from lawyers who actually did federal workers compensation asking ME for information. Some injured employees who had taken disability retirement started working with other current employees with injuries on a fee base.
I bet something similar will happen with VA claims. Those who can work and have a lot of knowledge about the VA system could possibly make some money helping these lawyers work claims. I can't work because I get IU but someone out there could maybe make a living helping lawyers get up to speed. The VA lawyer connection will become an industry just like the SSA/disability claims business. You know the lawyers will probably hire ex-VA claims raters to help them defeat the VA. This way the lawyer can charge a big price and pay the ex-VA rater to do all the work and still make money for doing nothing except showing up at hearings. Just watch some law firms hire VA broken down DRO's to work as consultants to beat the system.

I would like to know if anyone knows if there is a lawyer in or near Houston Texas that will fight for me?
I read all this lawyer talk on the board but, I am still confused. Can I hire a lawyer or not? Where do I find one? I am sick (literally) and tired and I do not remember things anymore. I cannot fight them anymore as I cannot maintain cohesive or cognitive approach. Hell, I can't even remember what I did last. I do know (as my wife has pointed out) now that I have had 3 or 4 VSOs and I can't tell you who they are. Well that's enough complaining. I just need to know who what where how to get a lawyer involved.

Sorry ... double post.

chahta,

If I ask you a few questions, perhaps, I can help you.

Is your claim at the Regional Office?

Are you with the Rating board?

Are you in Appeals at the Regional Office?

Are you in Appeals at the BVA?

I met someone that is just as sick of the VA as I am. It is a never ending battle. When they have driven you crazy, then they have you where they want you.

I am at the BVA and remanded to the AMC and I still cannot hire a lawyer, until I receive a negative from the AMC.

Please do let us know, for there is so much knowledge on this site.

Always,

Josephine

I don't have a clue. Except that it is in Waco (I believe). You have to forgive me coz my memory is not what it use to be. I have brain fog due to hepatic encephalopathy. This is a secondary to liver disease (hep c with cirrhosis). I guess I need to find out from the VSO.

This is my record so far. I filed, was denied, filed NOD, was denied and now filed requesting a review by judge (at least that's what I remember).

Yes, the VA is a bit confused about Hep and cirhossis, I have Liver disease but they cannot connect it to Hep A B or C. Its called ideopathic hepatitus. The VARO for other reasons did not understand the term "end stage liver disease" I had my va Hepatologist write a letter stating it was a terminal disease. The VARO understood that. Proving Service connection is etherical for liver disease.
I was a medic and had alot of blood/body fluids exposure, this is still etherical to them. There are tests available for Hep C but was it service caused/connedted or was it recreational? The only sure connection I have found was in the case of forcable rape
where the rapist was convicted and a carrier of hepatitus.
I hope you are taking the lactulose, its bad I know but it gets the ammonia out of the blood and helps the "brain foggies", dont do sh..... for my attitude or temper though..
