Isn't it good to know we can write our Senator's who are supposed to support and give an intelligent? answer to our questions? I wrote mine asking him to support NOT repealing the law that allows Disabled Veterans to hire an Attorney if they so wish. The "Non-sense attachment is the answer I got. This froma aSenator who has a 80% negative vote on Veteran's Issues, but a 100% vote on building a 600 million dollar Embassy in Iraq... "The US Senate agreed to spend $592 million on a huge new embassy Baghdad, "Some conservative Republicans in Congress have targeted the Baghdad embassy project to hold down spending and trim the record budget deficit, which hit $412 billion last year.
"The emergency supplemental (spending bill) should only contain items that we need to fight the war on terror," said Sen. Tom Coburn, an Oklahoma Republican, who argued that Congress should spend just $106 million on constructing the embassy and decide on additional funds later.
But Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Thad Cochran, a Mississippi Republican, said full funding was needed now to quickly provide a safer environment for Americans in Iraq. http://tvnz.co.nz/view/news_world_story_skin/513442

My senators in Florida are both a pair of pissants. They just parrot back to you whatever the VA or any other agency says to them when you make an inquiry. Both of them should probably get a room together. They just toured my local VAMC saying how wonderful it all is. Their kids and grandkids should have to get all their medical treatment at my VAMC and be told their meds are not available because they cost too much. Our government and its agencies are cesspools of corruption. When you have a house infested with vermin what should you do?

I think everyone on this site should call the Senator from Mississippi and voice your concern whether you are from Mississippi or not. I have and I spoke with a person in the D.C. office named Emily who couldn't have been ruder. Here is the contact info.

There is an opportunity here for all Veterans to unite. There is an organization called Operation Firing For Effect 2008 and they are a non-profit Veterans advocacy group. Their agenda right now is Full Mandatory Funding for the VA. You can go to their website at offe2008.org and read about what they are doing. The Veteran's voting block is enormous right now and we can all work together to elect pro Veteran elected officials, but to do this, we need to know where our elected officials and future candidates stand on Veteran issues. We need to look at the voting records of our current elected officials and keep the good ones and get rid of the ones who only give lip service to Veterans. Where do your elected officials stand on Veteran issues? What does their record show? What would they think of Full Mandatory Funding for the VA? Ask them.

At least you got a response which spoke of veterans. Last year I wrote my dumbass congressman and got a letter back asking me to support some local issues the govenor was pushing. I fired back with a smart ass letter to him/his lay person asking them to relook my original letter and respond to it. Never heard another thing.

Term limits, term limits, term limits.......as it is now if you ever put them there death from old age is about the only thing that will get them out.

If only the founding fathers could have seen into the future the power that office brings and the greedy power hungry bastards that would be holding office I am sure they would have put in term limits.

When the founding fathers held office it was considered an honor and a hardship. They traveled for days to get to D.C. and could not go back home. After a couple of years they had to give it up and go back to the farm or risk losing everything. They could not imageine the current evil bastards we have. Jetting all over the world on taxpayers money, stealing, and wheeling and dealing sucking up more power and money that anyone could ever imageine. jhm0

Ricky, you are right. That is why I decided to not take it anymore. I am working to get my elected officials out and some new blood in. I could have set back and complained or try and do something about it. It may work, it may not, but I can tell you that my elected officials remember my name and I am sure they all hate me and I don't care, my point to them is...Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do, not because there could be consequences if I don't...VETERANS, let's teach our elected officials the consequences of ignoring our issues.
