Pension Without C&p Exam?

I recently recieved a pension without getting a C&P exam. I'm wondering if this is common?
And if this good for my case for compensation?

Why they awarded it w/o an exam may depend on you age? At 65yo all wartime vets are considered disabled for pension.

When they award pension they usually make a statement as to any pending claim for service connection and why they awarded pension and not service connection.

Has the VA sent you a VCAA letter yet regarding your disability claim?

The criteria for VA pension is completely different from Service Connection.

What is the status of your disability claim?

i had a c&p exam for my pension.

Good morning, all. Phillip, I'm still a rookie to all of this, and working through it as I go. What periods does the VA consider "wartime"? I know that WWI and WWII veterans are automatically in the system, but what about Korean War, Vietman War, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, OIF,etc. Does the VA use some classification chart for periods of wartime?

Mark - it looks like USMC5811 posted the links to answer your question(s). Thanks, USMC5811. Remember, Mark, one need not be involved in the "war" itself but does meet the requirement by having wartime service.

Wow, thanks Phillip and USMC! I had no idea. I never knew that those of us serving during Desert Shield/Desert Storm would qualify. I know I'm several years out from being eligible for a pension of this nature, but it is reassuring to know that it is out there. Thanks again.
