At this moment, there are currently 127,819 Reservists and Guardsmen on active duty in support of the war on terror. 107,802 are Army National Guard and Army Reserve. Currently, over half of the soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan are Guard/Reserve soldiers. They are sent into battle with at best, 6 months of training, expected to, and VERY OFTEN do, exceed extreme expectations placed upon them, and rarely complain. My husband got 8 days notice that he was being deployed overseas, and got less than 6 weeks of training before he left.
