VA News

Aerobic exercise, tai chi and yoga; and manual therapies, including acupuncture, massage and spinal manipulation. Do any of these sound like they may work for you? They have worked for a lot of folks and now Yale is going to do a study to see if it can help veterans and get them off the pain many pain meds veterans take. The military is rough on the mind and the body. The 6 year study will focus on non-drug treatments, the study aims to address the opioid crisis.
For New England Veterans a second study may interest you. 8 Veterans Affairs Medical Centers will randomly select 1200 veterans to receive usual care or non-drug treatments, such as acupuncture, tai-chi, yoga etc. Read the article below for the full story.

Treatments of interest can be divided into three broad categories: psychological and behavioral approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based stress reduction; movement and exercise interventions, including structured aerobic exercise, tai chi and yoga; and manual therapies, including acupuncture, massage and spinal manipulation. – Source: Yale Daily News
