Fear and Loathing on the 10th Floor at Veterans Affairs?
Just when you think things couldn’t get any stranger…
- Morning meeting canceled.
- Access to the Secretary’s executive suite revoked for several “White House lobbyists”
- An armed guard at the Secretary’s door.
I’m not sure how we got to this point, what we can be sure about is while this intrigue is played out veterans will be ill served.
Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin is managing the government’s second-largest bureaucracy from a fortified bunker atop the agency’s Washington headquarters. He has canceled the morning meetings once attended by several of President Trump’s political appointees – members of his senior management team – gathering instead with aides he trusts not to miscast his remarks.
