Im currently considering a makoplasty. Its a far less invasive (than TKR) and much shorter recovery time.
The big problem is how to pay for it. Since Im pretty sure VA does not have makoplasty doctors, I emailed my VA prime care doc and asked him for a referral to a Vets choice doc that will do the surgury on the outside of VA.
He responded that this is a decision made by VA ortho, so I have an appointment on May 14.
The Makoplasty sounds like the bees knees if I am a candidate for it. (I dont know that yet.)
I may go through my private (Humana..medicare advantage plan) if that will work, and I dont know if that will fly either.
Makoplasty youtube, to explain:
I will appreciate comments on anyone who has had knee surgury, how you paid for it (VA, VA choice, or private insurance), whether its a mako or not.
