November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.

Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who have served their country are remembered on Veterans Day. Today Veterans Day is set aside to all honor all those who served their country in war and peace.

Also known as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day. In 1954 President Dwight D. Eisenhower legally changed Armistice Day to Veterans Day, honoring all veterans from all wars.
